The Mandalorian – Season 1
Helping Launch Lucasfilm’s First Real-Time Pipeline
The Mandalorian Season 1 was Lucasfilm’s first step into virtual production, and we were lucky to be part of it. Safari and I joined as VAD supervisor and lead, helping connect traditional design with Unreal Engine.
We started with a VR proof-of-concept, built early environments, and worked closely with Epic and the core team - Jon Favreau, the production designer, VFX supervisor, cinematographer, and producers.
These early workflows focused on high-quality previs, designed to hand off directly into traditional VFX, not photoreal final sets yet, but they laid the groundwork for how ICVFX would evolve in future seasons.
