Why Women Kill S2

Why Women Kill - Paramount TV Show

Creating Unreal environments for a greenscreen-first pipeline

When we came onto Why Women Kill, the team needed a way to use Unreal Engine for design and visualization without shooting on an LED stage — working instead within a traditional greenscreen pipeline. The challenge was making sure the environments we built in Unreal could carry through production and hold up in comp, lighting, and final delivery, while keeping the director, VFX, and production teams aligned.

We designed and built the key locations in Unreal, working closely with the director and VFX supervisor to create virtual storyboards and define the visual language. During the shoot, we supported greenscreen production with live comps, helping the team understand spatial relationships and how scenes would come together. In post, we worked with VFX teams to ensure everything was rendered, lit, and handed off properly, giving compositors what they needed for final integration.

Because of this, the team had a clear visual target from the start, a smoother production process, and a cohesive final result — using Unreal as a design and production tool end-to-end, even without an LED stage.
